This game is possibly one of the biggest so far for Andre Villas-Boas, he needs his team to win this, for the support and respect of the fans at Stanford Bridge. Mancini’s team is still solid at the top of the league table, five points clear of Manchester United.
Chelsea’s manager has a difficult decision to make, with so many possibilities for attacking options; Torres, Drogba, Sturridge, Mata, Kalou, Malouda and
Lampard. (comment if any missing) But no matter who, AVB should provide an attacking force for Chelsea and smart one as well. Chelsea’s recent form has been WWLWL (including CL), with losses to Bayern Leverkusen and Liverpool. The past is the past, and Villas-Boas should provide a strong Chelsea team to put a difficult task for Mancini’s team.
Manchester City’s solid season has left them at the top of the league table and five points clear of Manchester United in second. Mancini has a solid starting eleven, with starters like, Ballotelli, Augero, Barry, Kompany, Richards, Nasri and Silva. Manchester City have provided a very solid team, but if the Chelsea manager provides his best team against the unstoppable Man City, Chelsea can edge out the draw or even a possible win. Mancini’s team will be difficult to beat home or away. City’s recent for has been WWWDL. (including CL)
Head to head, Manchester City have been the better team winning three of the last five games against Chelsea. Chelsea won the last game between these two sides 2-0 in the EPL on March 20th, 2011. City’s recent form compared to Chelsea’s has definitely been better.
Considering AVB side is playing at home, I believe City can pull off a 2-1 away win and go home winners.
