Confirmed Premier League transfers on deadline day: Cavani, Partey, Loftus-Cheek and more…

With Manchester United signing five new players to the club, there were lots of late drama on the transfer deadline day for Premier League sides.

Since United announced the signing of Donny van de Beek from Ajax, the club has been quite dormant in the transfer window until the final day for transfers in Europe.

18-year-old Facundo Pellistri was the fifth signing of the day for the Red Devils after Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and teenage centre-back Willy Kambwala joined the Old Trafford club immediately, while Amad Diallo will link up with the club in January.

Meanwhile, Chris Smalling also made a permanent move to Italian giants AS Roma, who according to reports completed the £13.6m signing when the Italian FA processed the paperwork only a minute before the country’s transfer deadline.

In North London, Arsenal left it late to land the biggest deal on transfer deadline day after activating the £45million release clause to sign midfielder Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid, Evening Standard reports

The club tweeted on their official Twitter handle “Welcome to the Partey!” shortly after Atletico confirmed they had met the valuation for the Ghana international, meaning “the player has unilaterally terminated his contract with our club.”

On the other hand, Lucas Torreira completed a loan move to the Spanish side while Matteo Guendouzi also joined Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan deal.

Elsewhere, Theo Walcott rejoined his former club Southampton from Everton after the Merseyside club landed Ben Godfrey from Norwich.

Walcott made his senior debut for the south-coast club as a 16-year-old and has now returned almost 15 years after his departure.

A club statement said: “Southampton Football Club is proud to announce that Theo Walcott, one of the most celebrated academy graduates in its history, has returned to St Mary’s.”

On the other end, Southampton reportedly allowed Sofiane Boufal and Guido Carrillo to leave on free transfers to Angers and Elche respectively, while defender Wesley Hoedt rejoined his previous club Lazio on loan.

Norwich City announced they had received a club-record fee for Godfrey whose deal ties him to Everton until the end of June 2025.

The 22-year-old made 30 appearances for Norwich in the Premier League last season before being relegated and since then, has been linked to a number of top-flight clubs in the transfer window.

Everton also announced the signing of goalkeeper Robin Olsen on loan from Italian side AS Roma.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds secured the signature of Brazilian winger Raphinha from Rennes at an undisclosed fee, reported to be around £17million.

The 23-year-old Raphinha who helped Ligue 1 side Rennes secure their first Champions League football last season, has agreed a four-year deal with the Premier League side.

Fulham have reportedly completed the signing of Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea on loan, while they have also signed Denmark centre-back Joachim Anderson on loan from Lyon until the end of the 2020/2021 season.

Also leaving Stamford Bridge on the deadline day alongside Loftus-Cheek was midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko who moved to Napoli on loan till the rest of the season.

Fulham also made a late swoop for Manchester City centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo for an undisclosed fee. The 23-year-old agreed a three-year deal at Craven Cottage, with Fulham holding the option to extend by an additional 12 months.

20-year-old Ryan Sessegnon has joined Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim on loan from Tottenham for the rest of the season.

The Spurs midfielder struggled in North London since joining the club for £25million last summer and was sent out to get some game-time.

Wolves defender Ruben Vinagre completed a season-long loan move to Olympiacos, with an option for the Greek champions to make the deal permanent.

Leicester City forward Rachid Ghezzal joined Besiktas on a season-long loan. The Algeria international spent last term on a temporary deal with Fiorentina.
