Crouch would welcome Wright-Phillips

New Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch says the potential signing of Shaun Wright-Phillips could be great for everyone at the club.

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp, has expressed his desire many times to sign the Chelsea winger, who has been said to be looking for a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Crouch told BBC Radio Solent, “Shaun is a fantastic player. If the manager can pull the signing off, it would be great for everyone here.”

Chelsea could ask for as much as £10 million for the England international, the cash which Redknapp supposedly doesn’t have available.

Redknapp has recently stated that he’d first need to sell fringe players to make funds available for the ex-Manchester City star. Crouch himself cost Pompey a reported £11 million sum, taking up most of the budget Redknapp was given by owner Sasha Gaydamark.

Redknapp is looking for three more top quality players that will help improve his side’s fortunes in the upcoming season. Those three are rumoured to be Wright Phillips. Youness Kaboul and Nicky Shorey.
