Everton Plotting New Offer for West Ham’s Tomas Soucek After Summer Rejection — Exclusive

Everton plan to return with a new offer for West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek in January, FootballBlog.co.uk has learned.

Soucek was the subject of an enquiry by the Toffees in August, but the Hammers rejected the approach due to concerns over squad depth.

West Ham had been willing to sell Soucek earlier in the summer but changed their stance after failing to secure key transfer targets in his position.

Everton still want Tomas Soucek

However, much has changed since August. West Ham are now under new management, having sacked Graham Potter and replaced him with Nuno Espirito Santo in late September.

Soucek has started just six of West Ham’s first 17 Premier League games this season, with his last three appearances all coming from the bench after the 75th minute.

West Ham may now be more open to selling Tomas Soucek

Everton are understood to be hopeful that West Ham may now be more open to the idea of selling Soucek, especially now that the two clubs are not direct relegation rivals. The Toffees are currently 11 points above the Hammers, who sit 18th with 21 rounds of fixtures remaining.

Despite Everton’s impressive position of 10th, only Wolves and Nottingham Forest have scored fewer Premier League goals this season.

David Moyes is a big fan of Tomas Soucek

Soucek scored 10 Premier League goals for West Ham during the 2020/21 season, when current Everton boss David Moyes was in charge at the London Stadium.

The 30-year-old Czech international has since netted another 25 top-flight goals, and Moyes sees him as a strong candidate to improve the attacking output of Everton’s midfield.

Soucek was a firm favourite of Moyes during the Scot’s 262-game reign as West Ham manager.

What has David Moyes said about Tomas Soucek in the past?

Speaking after West Ham beat Tottenham in February 2021, Moyes said of Soucek: “He’s been great. He’s a manager’s dream. You have got somebody who wants to play.

“He is really humble about being here and working here. He is a great boy to have, and he’s been a very good player for us.”

Soucek is under contract with West Ham until June 2027 and is currently earning around £90,000 per week.

The Hammers paid a fee of around £19 million to sign him from Slavia Prague in 2020, but Everton hope a significantly lower offer could be enough to prise him away from Stratford in 2026.

Another West Ham player likely to leave in 2026 is Niclas Fullkrug, having already agreed personal terms with AC Milan.

Meanwhile, Lazio striker Taty Castellanos has been linked with West Ham, who will finish 2025 with back-to-back home games against Fulham and Brighton.
