Manchester United Star’s Move To Serie A Is A ‘Done Deal’ Ahead Of January Window

Joshua Zirkzee Roma

Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee is set to join Italian side AS Roma in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Dutch striker has struggled at United, managing just three Premier League starts under manager Ruben Amorim.

And it now appears he is heading for the exit door when the window opens next month.

According to reports from Italy, Zirkzee will join Serie A side AS Roma.

Initially on loan, the deal will include a conditional obligation to buy.

Joshua Zirkzee To Roma Nearing Completion

Twenty-four-year-old Zirkzee joined United from Bologna in 2024.

He has since made 60 appearances. But having never nailed down a starting spot, he has only managed to score eight goals in that time.

Zirkzee transfer rumours have been swirling for months, with him heavily linked with a move away, and he now appears set to return to Italy.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the player has already agreed a move to Roma.

Roma are now in the final stages of negotiations with United, with an initial loan deal set to feature an obligation to buy – provided Roma qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The report adds that ‘the deal is done’ for Zirkzee to leave United.

Meanwhile, Brighton striker Evan Ferguson is expected to have his loan terminated in order to make way for Zirkzee.

Who Would Replace Joshua Zirkzee At Manchester United?

Although they’re have been flashes of brilliance, Zirkzee has been an overwhelming disappointment at United.

Unable to show his ability consistently, his £36.5 million arrival must go down as a failure.

He has struggled to adapt to the pace and physicality of the Premier League, and is clearly not the player United need him to be.

With one eye on the Netherlands’ World Cup squad, it’s no surprise to see him desperate to leave in order to regain form and put himself in contention for the tournament.

But regardless of his struggles, United will still need to replace him if he departs.

A number of attacking options have been linked to the club in recent weeks.

But few have been as talked about as Antoine Semenyo.

Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo could replace Zirkzee at United

It has been reported that Bournemouth forward Semenyo agreed terms with Liverpool and Manchester City last week.

But with a £65 million release clause that expires mid-way through the January window, it’s anyone’s guess where the Ghanaian will end up.

And given Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo’s involvement at AFCON, Ruben Amorim is already in need of reinforcements.

The club may therefore be ready to move for Semenyo before their rivals, even before Zirkzee’s exit is taken into consideration.
