Ferguson: Torres? No regrets!

Torres

Twenty-four year old Spanish striker Fernando Torres has had no problem in settling at Liverpool. He has been turning up wonderful performances for the Reds since his move from Atletico Madrid on the 4th July 2007. Until the 30th matchday of Premier League football, Fernando has scored 20 goals, four less than current top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo. One can clearly remember the speculation and rumours going around in the newspapers last summer. Manchester United were one of the teams to be linked with the Spanish striker, and it looked like Torres’ future was destined to be in Manchester. Eventually, Liverpool sounded their interest and Torres decided to join them rather than the Red Devils, due to being a Reds supporter himself.

Ahead of the game against Liverpool, Ferguson has said that he doesn’t regret missing out on Fernando Torres and that he does not interest him anymore as he is not his player.

“I don’t think he [Torres] came here with any great doubts. The boy had a great record in Spain, already a Spanish international. But to be honest with you, I haven’t paid that much attention to how he has settled in because he’s not my player.” – Sir Alex Ferguson.

Man Utd’s defence is surely very prepared for Fernando Torres, as the Spanish lad can be a match-winner. However, if Manchester United should worry about Torres, Liverpool should be scared to death of Cristiano Ronaldo, who may prove to be the difference between the two teams.
