Ferguson wants more goals

Sir Alex Ferguson is not very happy that his team is finding it difficult to score goals lately. Man Utd have only scored two goals in their last three games in all competitions, and these were all scored by Cristiano Ronaldo. Fergie is warning strikers Rooney, Tevez and Saha, in particular, that unless they start netting goals regularly, the team’s chances of achieving domestic and European success may be severely damaged. It is comprehensible that Ferguson starts worrying, when there are big games like Liverpool and Roma coming up. No Red Devil supporter would want to see the team create a goal-scoring chance in a tight match, and then squandering it away.

Ahead of the game against Bolton, Ferguson is asking his team to make the best out of the drop in form of rivals Arsenal, and stretch their lead at the top of the table to 3 points.

“We want to drive home our advantage at the top of the league by winning our game in hand.” – Sir Alex Ferguson

Whilst the focus may be on the Liverpool game in the next Super-Weekend, the players must not lose concentration from the Wednesday match against Bolton, and must go in with a winning mentality. Goals will not come automatically against Bolton, and should Man Utd take the game for granted, they risk throwing away the chance of building a gap between first place and second-placed Arsenal.
