Fulham are closing in on a major January signing after agreeing a £27 million deal with Manchester City for Oscar Bobb.
The Norway international is set to switch to Craven Cottage, as Bobb looks for a fresh start with regular football now a priority ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
Fulham Agree Deal for Oscar Bobb
Manchester City and Fulham have reached an agreement worth £27 million for Bobb to complete a permanent move this month.
City are understood to have negotiated a 20 per cent sell-on clause, along with matching rights on a future offer.
There is no buy-back clause included, so it’s a clean break for the 22-year-old after several stop-start seasons.
Oscar Bobb Man City Struggles Explained
Since his breakthrough season in 2023–24, Bobb has struggled to maintain his footing in the Manchester City senior team.
He started each of the club’s first three Premier League matches this season, but his role quickly diminished as injuries once again disrupted his progress.
Bobb has scored one goal in 15 appearances across all competitions this campaign after missing the majority of last year with a broken leg.
The winger has endured a difficult 18 months, with recurring fitness issues preventing him from establishing himself under Pep Guardiola.
While highly rated internally, Bobb’s repeated absences tested Guardiola’s patience during a period when City were competing on multiple fronts.
Manchester City January Transfer Business
City’s decision to allow Bobb to leave has been influenced by their activity earlier in the window.
The arrival of Antoine Semenyo has transformed City’s attack, with the forward scoring three goals in his opening two weeks at the club.
Semenyo’s impact has eased the scoring load on Erling Haaland, who is on his worst scoring run in years, while Omar Marmoush has also returned to action after the Africa Cup of Nations.
And with competition in wide areas increasing, Bobb found himself further down the pecking order.
Why Fulham Want Oscar Bobb
Fulham manager Marco Silva is believed to have driven the club’s pursuit of Bobb, while also greenlighting Adama Traore’s exit to West Ham.
Silva sees the Norwegian as a player with high upside who can flourish with consistent minutes and a defined role.
At Craven Cottage, Bobb is expected to be given the freedom and responsibility that proved hard to come by at City.
Fulham believe his technical quality and versatility fit well with Silva’s attacking approach.
There is also a lingering cloud over the future of star player Harry Wilson, being targeted by Everton among a number of other clubs, with his contract set to expire in the summer
Man City Academy Sales
Bobb’s departure continues a familiar trend at City, with the club cashing in on academy graduates for big fees to maximise their profits and comply with PSR.
He follows the likes of Cole Palmer, James McAtee, Liam Delap, Romeo Lavia and Morgan Rogers in leaving the club after coming close to cementing a first-team place.
For City fans, Semenyo’s strong start has softened the blow, even if Bobb’s exit feels like another case of unfinished business.
Man City January Transfer Plans
After strengthening both attack and defence with the additions of Semenyo and Marc Guehi, City aren’t expected to make further signings before the window closes.
The club are still exploring loan options for Kalvin Phillips and remain open to selling fourth-choice goalkeeper Stefan Ortega Moreno.
For Bobb, the move to Fulham represents a chance to reset his career, stay fit, and put himself back in contention on the international stage at a crucial moment.
