Jack Grealish Injury May Force Everton To Pull Trigger On Signing Premier League Midfielder

Everton are weighing up a late January move for Fulham midfielder Harry Wilson – and may now be forced to act after Jack Grealish’s long-term injury news.

Manchester City loanee Grealish has suffered a suspected stress fracture in his foot.

Grealish’s injury news will be a massive blow for Toffees boss David Moyes.

The England international has been ruled out for up to three months, effectively ending his England World Cup hopes.

And for Everton, it means they will be without one of their most creative weapons for most ofd the rest of this season.

As a result, the Merseyside outfit may be forced in to signing a replacement in January.

Everton were already in the race for Wales international Wilson, who has been integral to Fulham in recent years.

Twenty-eight-year-old Wilson joined the Cottagers from Liverpool in 2021, and has since made more than 170 appearances.

In that time, he’s netted 33 goals and provided 43 assists for the London club.

This season, Wilson has been directly involved in 13 goals for Marco Silva’s side.

With his current Fulham contract expiring at the end of the season and no sign of a new deal, rival clubs have begun circling.

And now the news of Grealish’s injury has come to light, Everton may have to pull the trigger on signing him.

Everton Enter Race For Fulham Midfielder Harry Wilson

According to reports, Everton appear to be the latest club to signal their interest in Wilson.

David Moyes is a long-time admirer of Wilson, and is keen to add the 67-cap Welsh midfielder to the Toffees’ ranks.

Everton’s midfield has been a problem area this season, exacerbated by the loss of Idrissa Gueye and Illiman Ndiaye during this month’s AFCON tournament.

Wilson would add depth and quality, something Moyes has been limited for in his second spell on Merseyside.

Several new signings have been linked, with Fenerbahce’s Youssef En-Nesyri in advanced talks.

At 28, Wilson’s age profile and Premier League experience make him an ideal fit.

He is closing in on 150 Premier League appearances, and is a proven player at the top level.

And given his ability to operate anywhere throughout midfield or out wide, his versatility would be hugely valuable.

Several Clubs Targeting Wilson As Contract Talks Stall

Fulham have been very keen to keep hold of Wilson, but he is yet to sign a new deal.

It may therefore prove the financially astute option to cash in on the Welshman.

Selling in January is not ideal, but it remains a better choice than letting him leave for free in the summer.

Marco Silva is already planning for Wilson’s potential exit, with Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney linked to Fulham.

Wilson is also thought to be keen on a return to Merseyside, where he began his professional career.

Everton will not have a clear run to his signature, though.

The Toffees face stiff competition from the likes of Leeds United, Sunderland and Nottingham Forest.

But given Wilson’s contract situation, and his Merseyside links, Everton remain well-placed to land the midfielder.

Should they manage it, it would be a superb signing for Moyes’s side as they push for European football.
