Game 1 – Daggers 6-0 Chester

As the season kicked off in spectacular fashion for the Daggers, yours truly was stuck in a traffic jam on the A303 coming home from a weeks holiday in Cornwall.

With my phone by my side after being promised score updates from several people, the depression of moving less than a mile in 45 minutes eased tremoundously as the news of Dominic Green and Ben Strevens first half strikes gave the Daggers a comfortable 2-0 lead at half time.

After going through 15 minutes of contemplating how the Daggers would proceed to mess up the second half and lose 3-2, I soon had to eat my words as news of the 3rd, 4th, 5th and then the 6th goal come through leaving me slightly bewildered and a tad frustrated that I had missed our biggest ever league victory.

However I am still unsure whether the result come down more to Chester’s abysmal starting XI or if the 11 Daggers who struggled to survive last season have finally clicked into gear in League 2.

The upcoming League Cup match against Reading on Tuesday night will not be one the Daggers will realistically be expected to win but a more relaxed feeling within the players and supporters camp will at least hopefully see us give a good account of ourselves before returning to league action with an away trip to Lincoln next Saturday.
