Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent has revealed the likely next destination for his client after telling PSG he would not sign a new contract.
The Italian goalkeeper, 26, was left out of the club’s squad for last night’s UEFA Super Cup Final victory over Tottenham in Udine and was left at home for the clash.
That was a decision made by manager Luis Enrique but it was one which did not sit well with Donnarumma, nor did it satisfy the player’s agent, Enzo Raiola.
Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent says PSG showed ‘no respect’
Enrique, before last night’s penalty shootout win over Spurs, explained: “Donnarumma is out of the squad as it’s my own decision, I am 100 per cent responsible.
“I want a different kind of goalkeeper and I made this decision. Gigio is one of the best keepers in the whole world.”
The player’s representative then hit out at Paris Saint Germain’s treatment of their Champions League-winning stopper and insisted his client has been disrespected by the Ligue 1 giants over the issue.
Mr Raiola claims the French club have been motivated solely by money in their handling of the situation as, despite Donnarumma only having one year left on his deal, they are demanding a hefty transfer fee before sanctioning any deal.
“We are shocked by PSG, Raiola told Sky Sports. “There’s zero respect by the club after four years together. We will consider the situation also with our legal team. We will consider solutions now, maybe in Premier League there will be clubs able to pay what’s needed.
“Paris Saint-Germain are asking for big money. They talk about respect, but it’s only about the money.”
Will Manchester City sign Donnarumma?
It appears Donnarumma is certainly destined for the Premier League and that could be a move he makes this summer with England’s heavy-hitters chasing his signature.
We told how Manchester United wanted Donnarumma to compete with Andre Onana who has not impressed at Old Trafford in the two seasons he has been there.
Ruben Amorim wants the experienced Italian international in a bid to ensure his side finish far better off this term than their miserable 15th spot conclusion to last season.
What happens to James Trafford at City if Donnarumma signs
The Red Devils are not the only club interested in Donnarumma, however, with rivals Manchester City seriously considering a move for the custodian.
City have already signed a goalie this summer in the form of Burnley’s James Trafford and his arrival did not come cheap at around £31million.
The thought was that the Englishman would be City’s new number one with Ederson’s future up in the air, but a move for Donnarumma would surely change that.
