“Hail Cesar!” ‘Keeper joins Spurs.

Tottenham have unveiled former Real Madrid and Real Zaragoza keeper Cesar Sanchez as their latest signing.

The keeper brings a wealth of experience to the club, having won the Champions league trophy with Madrid in 2002 and is sure to play back-up to new goalie Gomes, recently signed from Dutch Champions PSV.

The 36 year old stopper has expressed his delight at the move. “This is a very historic club and it’s a dream for me to be here working under a coach like Juande Ramos,” he told the club website, www.tottenhamhotspur.com. “I had the opportunity to play with English players like Jonathan Woodgate, Michael Owen and David Beckham during my time at Real Madrid, and now I hope to adapt my life and my game to this country. ”

The move isn’t really likely to excite many Spurs fan’s, but Sanchez should prove a safe pair of hands in the abscence of Gomes. Youngster Ben Alnwick also provides goalkeeping cover.
