
Jakub BÅ‚aszczykowski the young Polish midfielder has been ruled out of Euro 2008 after aggrevating a hamstring injury on Tuesday at training. The examination showed that he wouldn’t be fit for the group stage which lead Poland to request he be removed from the squad and replaced. Jakub picked up the injury last month while playing for his club side BV Borussia Dortmund and was originialy sidelined for 2 weeks.

Tomasz Kuszczak has also been removed from the EURO squad after picking up a back injury during training. He had an MRI scan on Friday which reveal he had hurt his spine and would be out for 3 weeks. He has also been replaced in the squad.
The official ruling on replacements is: According to Article 16.05 of the Regulations of the UEFA European Football Championship: “In the event of serious injury to a listed player before his team’s first match in the final tournament, the player in question may be substituted only if a doctor from the UEFA Medical Committee and the team doctor concerned both confirm that the injury is sufficiently serious to prevent the player from taking part.”
Replacements will be announced ASAP.
