Celtic have identified their Adam Idah replacement should the big striker make his move to Swansea City this window.
Idah’s expected switch to the EFL came as a real shock to the player as well as his club with the Welsh giants coming in from nowhere to try and sign the Irishman.
The forward was not looking to leave Parkhead and both Idah and manager Brendan Rodgers both saw a big campaign ahead for the 24-year-old.
What has transpired, though, will see close to £7million handed to the Hoops for their player but it is a move that will leave the Scottish champions desperately short of strikers up top.
There are just a few short days left of the summer transfer window and now Football Blog understands Celts have identified their hopeful new recruit to replace Idah who joined 12 months ago for £9.5m.
Celtic want Anderlecht striker Kasper Dolberg as Adam Idah replacement
We understand Kasper Dolberg has been sounded out by the Scottish club who are waiting for the Idah move to play out before officially contacting his club, Anderlecht.
They are believed to have already done their due diligence on the attacker earlier this summer.
We can also reveal a deal is likely to be completed should Celtic stump up the cash – around £8m – for their shortlisted striker.
Celtic have had a slow window this year and had only spent £3m until yesterday when they announced £4.5m Michel-Ange Balikwisha finally after chasing him for over a year.
And that has had supporters worried that they would be unlikely to reinvest the expected cash income from Idah on a new frontman.
Dolberg, 27, is expected to leave Anderlecht after they failed to make the UEFA Conference League. They were knocked out in the playoff tie against AEK Athens and that could see the striker seek a move.
Dolberg stats at Anderlecht
He pitched in with 24 goals last season for the club while he already has five strikes in eight this term so far.
Dolberg counts the likes of Ajax, Sevilla and Nice among his former clubs.
Celtic have Europa League football to offer as well as the chance to fully establish himself as their main player in attack with Idah gone and Shin Yamada yet to convince boss Rodgers.
It could have been Champions League football – as well as a £40m windfall for the Hoops – had Celtic not suffered one of their most humiliating nights in recent years earlier this week.
Celtic crashed out of the playoff against Kazakhstani minnows Kairat Almaty after a penalty shootout defeat. Idah missed the opening spot-kick.
