Cooper hopes to dent Harriers play off chances
Kettering Town manager, Mark Cooper wants to finish a very succesful season with three wins out of three, but they face stern opposition in promotion chasing Kidderminster Harriers. The Harriers, who on Tuesday, lost their first match in fifteen against play off rivals, Stevenage Borough, need to rely on other results involving Histon, Stevenage and Torquay, before they can even think about the exciting prospect of league football.
The Poppies themselves were very involved in the play off chase but faded after some poor performances, dropping points at home to Barrow, and Grays before locals rivals Rushden & Diamonds killed the faint hopes with a derby win.
Kettering will still stay professional though, according to Cooper, “ There will be no favours from us. There is no pressure on us whatsoever, we are going there to win a game and end the season on a high.”
Wins over Wrexham and Lewes have secured the Poppies eight place, unable to progress higher or fall any lower, whilst Kidderminster can finish anywhere within seventh and third.
and if Dempster is not able to recover in time, we should see striker Chris Beardsley start in centre midfield after he put in a decent shift in the win against bottom of the table Lewes. Kidderminster’s Darryl Knights and Brian Smikle have recovered from injuries so could start and defender Mark Creighton is back and expected to return to the starting line up for the Harriers.
