King to Feature in Last Ten Games?

Ledley King is the epitomy of the question “why?”. The former captain of Tottenham has suffered from a constant knee injury for the past few years, which has hindered his progress and, indeed, that of the club. Spurs look a different side every time the King takes the field, and look a lacking side when he’s sat in the stands. So I can’t help but think, if there is a higher power out there, why “Ledders”? He’s a talented footballer, and seems a very decent guy. I don’t like to see any player suffer from injury, but there are players out there who seem to get all the luck, and I can’t help but to wonder.

However, Tottenham’s last ten league matches all come at weekends, and King is determined to feature in all ten of those and help steer his beloved club out of trouble. The no-nonsense defender is currently on 20 appearances for this God-forsaken season; after playing just ten times last campaign, and twenty-seven each of the two seasons before that.

“Ledders” has led Tottenham through the harshest times

Twelve months ago, many people speculated that the back end of King’s career had already come, and would be gone before long. That would have meant one of the greatest tragedies in the history of Tottenham Hotspur FC. But the man is all about football, and his club, and soldiered on through the pain and numerous surgeries. He can still only play one match a week, though he is looking like a refined player and a pivotal part of the team again.

A character loved throughout the club

His knee has not only effected Ledley’s game count, but also his role within te club. When Robbie Keane resigned for the club, he was handed the captaincy, with King accepting he was no longer the man for the job; furthermore showing that the club are always at the forefront of his thoughts. I imagine he is now a huge character in the dressing room as well, guiding youngsters within the club. Ledley King has been a loyal servent to THFC, and in no way has deserved his unfortunate fate. However, he may now feel that after lifting the Carling Cup as captain, he can retire a happy man. Many people involved with the club, no doubt, will be eager for him to continue his tenure with Spus after his retirement; whenever that may be. He could go on to be a club legend, along with the likes of Bill Nicholson.

And pops up with the odd goal, too
