Italy snatch 3-1 win against Belgium

Italy won in their pre-Euro 2008 warm-up friendly match against Belgium beating the latter 3-1. Antonio Di Natale sent Italy ahead 1-0 in the ninth minute and he added a second in the 41st minute of the first half. Four minutes into the second half a Del Piero and Camoranesi magic worked wonders for Italy making the score 3-0. After going close to scoring for Belgium had it not been for Buffon, Sonck finally netted Belgium’s consolation goal in the 90th minute. This saw Donadoni experimenting with how to play upfront introducing Di Natale, Toni, Cassano, Del Piero and Camoranesi as well as Borriello who had a goalmouth opportunity but send the ball wide. Italy now await their first match of the group against Holland on the ninth June and they need must make sure that they keep their current performances and send a better warning against the Dutch squad.

Italy: Buffon, Panucci (Grosso 46), Cannavaro (Chiellini 46), Barzagli, Zambrotta, Gattuso, Pirlo, Aquilani (Ambrosini 75), Camoranesi (Cassano 61), Di Natale (Del Piero 46), Toni (Borriello 75).

Belgium: Stijnen, Hoefkens (Swertz 46), Kompany, Vertonghen, Pocognoli (Huysegems 83), Witsen (Gillet 70), Simons, Fellaini, Defour (Sonck 58), Mudingayi, Dembele (Mirallas 58).
