Juventus; when this word is said to an Italian football fan they immediately think about the most titled Italian squad of all time.
Although Juventus are proud about their 27 scudettos won, they should not be proud about their poor outcomes in the seasons that came after the 2006 football scandal and their relegation. The main reason for this is the decrease in quality of the team after many of the protagonists during la vecchia signora’s golden years 2001-2006 such as Lilian Thuram, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Emerson, Fabio Cannavaro and other key players like the ex gunner Patrice and ex blaugrana Gianlcuca Zambrotta left the club as they wanted better pay the club could not afford that year and wanted to keep playing high profile football and Juve being relegated to the Serie B prevented them from doing so.
In the following years Juve had to pay off heavy debts therefore could not afford world class signings. After playing with mediocre players and some of the loyal players of the clubs like team capitan Alex Del Piero, Buffon, Trezeguet and Nedved, Juve managed to come back to the serie A. But the players lost before relegation like Thuram, Vieira etc. needed quality replacements, from there Juve’s performances went downwards as quality youth players like Marchionni, Giovinco were thrown away for funds to replace the players that left the club the year earlier.
The players bought were all unsuccessful like a disappointing Grygera an unwatchable Sissoko and Felipe Melo has still not given any contributes of his to the team. Just recently their star of the season Fabio Quagliarella was injured and subsequently sidelined for the rest of the season. As his replacement Marotta and Del Neri signed an extremely fragile Luca Toni that in his first game with the Bianco Neri’s came out injured and sidelined for a month. Juve currently finds themselves having to play with rubbish strikers such as Amauri and Iaquinta.
And that is the problems due to disgraceful transfers Juventus’s quality has literally sunk below the ground. Unless there will be miracles happening in these next Summer’s transfer windows Juventus will keep signing mediocre players not worthy of playing for the club and will not be able to aim for silver wear for a good 8-9 years.
