Man Utd and Real Madrid interested in Gareth Bale

One of the leading football websites Goal.com reported that Manchester United tried to sign 21-year old Welsh fullback Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur this summer. They go on saying that the Red Devils have not yet lost hope of signing the Welsh hot prospect and that they will try again next summer. Tottenham have put a reported £30 million price tag on their valuable asset, and it seems Jose Mourinho is also interested in this player. Bale can play as a left full-back and as a left midfielder, and it is believed that he is happy at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham were keen to tie Bale down for more years and offered him a contract last May for four years, which he accepted, despite hearing about serious interest from the Red Devils. A factor which had a bearing on Bale’s decision was surely Tottenham’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League, and it is understood he is seeking that Tottenham continues to compete in major European competitions in the future for him to stay. Bale joined Tottenham from Southampton in May 2007, and back then, Manchester United were also interested. However, he opted for Spurs over his boyhood hero Ryan Giggs’s club. Bale is known for his pace, power and delivering the ball from the left flank. Will we ever see this player in the red shirt, and will he follow Carrick and Berbatov on the same route from White Hart Lane to Old Trafford?
