A truly remarkable season is coming to a close with a lot of managers standing out on the spotlight but.. who was the BEST manager this season?
Sir Alex Ferguson – Who can replace him? The legendary Man United manager that will retire at the end of the season. He did great job in the league securing the his 13th title and the red devil’s 20th, lost just 5 times and no team made a double on him this season. Besides the great job he did in the Premier League he failed to reach expectations in the Capital One Cup, FA Cup and Champions League so maybe it wasn’t enough for the legendary Scot.
Steve Clarke – First season as a head coach of a team having been an assistant of Mourinho, Dalglish and more at Chelsea and Liverpool, got the job at the Hawthorns and did a splendid work in his first campaign, he even was one of the contenders to take the hot seat at Stamford Bridge at some point. For a team like West Brom this season is one of the best in the top-flight, and they are still looking to reach 50 points!
Jupp Heynckes – He has to be in the list of the best managers, he made Munich a team to remember, his team lost just 1 time in the league, he drawn 4 times and won 27 times in 32 games, he is a German Cup finalist for the second time in a row, like in the Champions League, but this time he wont face a team that sitting in defence and waiting to the counter, to Bayern can get a treble this season.
Philippe Montanier – Maybe not as known as the managers on that list but he is the manager of Real Sociedad, the surprise of the season, and from pretty much nothing he made a team that are fighting for every point, Sociedad have the third best attack in the division and fourth best defence in the league. There is not a lot to talk about because he is so anonymous for everybody but he deserve to be up there.
Diego Simeone – Another manger from Spain, this time is the Atletico Madrid legend, the Argentine manager took this job in December 2011 and since then he lost just 15 times! He beat Chelsea in this year’s Super Cup 4-1, and will face Real Madrid in the Copa Del Rey final next week. So he can secure a double.
Elie Baup – Yes, another unknown manager hits the list, this time he represents France. Didier Deschamps left for the France National Team job and left the manager job in Marseille wide open, but the one who got the seat is someone who hadn’t been a part of football since being sacked in 2009. Last year Marseille skydive into the 10th place but since Baup came in. With not many start as PSG’s and not the same budget Baup and his players gave a fight to Paris for the title and he secure Champions League Football for Marseille next year.
So who is YOUR manager of the season?
