Manchester United v Braga: Preview

Manchester United face Portuguese side SC Braga at Estadio AXA in the Champions League this Wednesday. United can secure a berth in knock-out stage with two games to spare with a win or a draw in Portugal. United have already secured the maximum amount of points with 3 out of 3 wins.

In the previous fixture at Old Trafford United won 3-2 after goals from Javier Hernandez and Jonathan Evans. United repeated what they have done in many matches this season and conceded two early goals in the first twenty minutes. Javier Hernandez started the match and scored in the 25th minute to reduce the deficit to 2-1 and in the 75th minute to put United in the lead. Jonathan Evans netted a rare goal in the 62nd minute and the 33 year old Alan scored both for Braga.

Taking a look at the Sports Betting here the current odds for United to win in Braga is 5/4 and Braga 23/10. A likely result a draw sees the odds at 9/4. The odds on Robin van Persie to score is 6/5 after his double in Romania against CFR Cluj last month. After Javier Hernandez’s double last week against SC Braga his odds to score come to 2/1. Wayne Rooney may seem himself play in the attacking midfield position which could see van Persie and Hernandez up front.

Manchester United’s away form in the Champions League has improved this season compared to previous seasons. United beat CFR Cluj 2-1 in Romania earlier this season after a brace from Robin van Persie. In the 2011-12 season United lost 2-1 to FC Basel, drew 1-1 to Benfica and beat Otelul Galati 2-0 in away matches in the group stage. United failed to progress after poor home and away form. United have something to prove against SC Braga this Wednesday.

The odds on Braga’s Alan to score comes to 10/3. His double two weeks ago shocked Old Trafford and United look to tighten up their defence in tomorrows clash. Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are still out with injury which sees Rio Ferdinand turn 34 on match day. CFR Cluj host a tough challenge against Turkish champions Galatasaray although the Turkish club have not not won away in 10 years in the Champions League.

My predictions sees a 2-2 draw which sees the odds at 14/1 with goals from Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney. This round saw a series of 2-2 draws between Arsenal v Schalke, Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City v Ajax.
