A leading newspaper is reporting that Manchester United are interested in Inter’s Wesley Sneijder as well as Wolfsburg’s Edin Dzeko. Both players are seen as fitting the requirements to be top-class transfers for Manchester United, fuelled by the reported claims by Rooney that United are failing to attract world class talent, as well as reports stating that Ferguson will be handed a £50 million transfer kitty next summer.
Sniejder has impressed last season after joining Inter from Real Madrid. The former Ajax attacking midfielder is 26 years old and was one of Holland’s key players in the 2010 summer World Cup, winning the Bronze Boot and the Silver Ball. He is regarded as one of the finest players in European football at the moment. Goal-machine Edin Dzeko is also reported to be one the Manchester United radar. The 24-year old Bosnian striker currently plays in the Bundesliga. He is the Bosnian Footballer of the Year 2009. For Wolfsburg, he scored 36 goals in total in the 2008/09 season and 29 goals in the 2009/10 season. He has been rumoured to be close to the exit doors at Wolfsburg after many European top clubs are chasing his signature.
The Daily Star believes that Sir Alex will spend his entire transfer budget to bring these two players to Old Trafford next summer. With regards to Sneijder, it is rumoured that Inter are looking to extend his contract beyond the current 2013 expiry, after the club is fearing that Manchester United may make a bid as early as January. The fee to acquire his service would be around £30 million, with the rest of the budget going to fund Dzeko’s transfer.
