Germany got off to an ideal start against Poland in their first group B game. Lukas Podolski who was born in Poland was the hero for Germany bagging the 2 goals. The first goal was finished off a one-touch move that was similar to the football that they played at the 2006 World Cup which got them to 3rd place. The second, decisive goal was driven past Artur Boruc after Bastian Schweinsteiger had dispossessed Pawel Golanski in his own area. It sealed the victory for Germany which was its first win at a Euro since 1996 when they won the trophy.

Poland did have their chances during this match so all Poland fans shouldn’t give up hope. They created twice as many chances as the Germans during the first half. One of the Polish stars for the game was Roger Guerreiro hwo finished strongly in the game.

Poland now need to win their next 2 games or at least win the match against Croatia and a win or a point against Austria to progress.

Golanski
Bak
Zewlakow
Wasilewski
