Mesut Ozil, the 21 year old German attacking midfielder has made a big impression at this World Cup. He has had an excellent season at Werder Bremen (2009/10) after making his break through in 2008 playing 71 games and scoring 13 goals and creating plenty of assists.
But is he ready for a big move to the Premier League? Around sixteen months ago he attracted interest from Arsenal but they didn’t make a move for the youngster. His goal against Ghana epitomised his World Cup so far. A great finish from 20 yards out lead to Germany progress to the last 16. His passing his been exceptional but has been marred by a diving incident in the game against Australia.
Inventive he maybe but he lacks the finishing powers of Lampard and Gerrard . This maybe halting a move into the big time even thorough it was Arsenal previously looking at him how need at midfielder who can score goals, yes they have Fabregas but a move to Barcelona seems very likely and they need a midfielder to score goals on a regular basis.
