Newcastle United fans will be delighted with the club’s latest injury update after two key men were pictured back in training this week.
Eddie Howe’s Magpies take on Dutch side PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League.
Following a lacklustre draw with Premier League basement-dwellers Wolves, the Toon Army will be hoping for a better performance.
Newcastle’ injury crisis has seriously limited Howe’s options, especially in defence.
But the return of two players to the training pitch will come as a much-needed lift for his side.
A win against the Eredivise leaders on Wednesday would secure Newcastle a place in the Champions League play-off round at least.
And it would put them in a good position to earn a place straight through to the last 16 if they can beat Paris Saint-Germain in their final league phase fixture.
Newcastle Injury Update As Burn And Osula Back In Training
Ahead of Wednesday night’s PSV clash, both Dan Burn and William Osula have been pictured in training.
Towering defender Burn has not played since the Tyne-Wear derby in December.
The 33-year-old suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung in the defeat against Sunderland.
But the 6’7 centre-half has been steadily working back to fitness and seems close to a return.
Also spotted on the training paddock was Danish striker William Osula.
The Denmark under-21 international has been out of action since sustaining an ankle injury in November.

Eddie Howe will address the media this afternoon, so we will find out if either or both are in the squad for PSV tomorrow night then.

Osula has been a big miss for the Magpies’ faltering attack.
Newcastle did not register a shot on target against Wolves until the 86th minute, and have failed to score in their last two in all competitions.
Discussing a possible January exit for Osula, Eddie Howe quickly dismissed any rumours.
“No, there’s no expectation of me thinking Will will leave,” he said.
“I think the only way that we would consider that would be for his development and growth in terms of benefiting his career to play but always with a view to him coming back to us.
“He’s injured at the moment. I think the main priority for Will is just to focus on getting fit.
Dan Burn Nearing Return After ‘Most Pain’ He’s Felt
While Osula’s return will be a big help, getting Dan Burn back on the field could be season-defining.
The imposing and experienced defender has left a gaping hole in Newcastle’s back four while injured.

Burn, who has made 222 Premier League appearances throughout his career, is a hometown hero and has captained the Magpies on numerous occaisions.
Last week, Burn discussed his injury progress. He said: “My lung is all right, the rib will be a couple more weeks but I am feeling a lot better than I was a few weeks ago.
“It is the most pain I have ever been in and I was lying in bed for about three days but it got better pretty quickly.”
