Aston Villa Closing In On £140,000 Per Week Former Chelsea Star

Aston Villa are leading the race to sign ex-Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham from Italian side AS Roma this month.

The 28-year-old former England international joined Roma from Chelsea during the 2021-22 season.

After a superb opening season, where he scored 27 goals in all competitions, Abraham’s form wavered.

He then joined AC Milan on loan, before heading to Turkish club Besiktas this season.

But he now looks set to return to the Premier League, with Aston Villa and parent club Roma deep in negotiations.

Unai Emery’s Villa sit third in the league, behind Manchester City only on goal difference.

They have been active in the transfer market already this window, with striker Donyell Malen joining Roma.

And it seems like Abraham may be heading in the opposite direction – provided Besiktas are happy to forfeit their buy option on his current loan deal.

Abraham might not be the only incoming at Villa Park this week, either.

Boubacar Kamara’s injury means Villa will be missing a midfielder for the rest of the season, and might look to the transfer market to plug that gap.

The French international was forced off early on in Villa’s FA Cup win against Tottenham, and has now been ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

Aston Villa In Advanced Talks For Tammy Abraham Signing

Although still a Roma player, Abraham is currently on loan in Turkey with Besiktas.

With 13 goals in all competitions, he has rediscovered some of the form that saw him make headlines when he first joined Roma.

Besiktas have an option to make the move permanent, which has complicated Villa’s negotiations.

But it is believed that all parties are working towards a solution.

Roma are thought to want a fee in the region of £15 million to sanction Abraham’s permanent sale.

Sources close to the player have suggested he is ready to return to the Premier League.

Abraham spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Villa from Chelsea, scoring 26 goals in the Championship that year.

Abraham Would Provide Needed Competition For Watkins

Brining Tammy Abraham back to Villa Park would be a great move for Unai Emery’s side.

Despite their recent success, there has been a serious lack of competition for Ollie Watkins up front.

Injuries to their main man have hampered Villa severely, with no reliable backup option.

Abraham would hope to offer more than that, and push Watkins for a starting place.

Both Jhon Duran and Doneyll Malen same and went within a short period. But it is hoped that Abraham would offer a more long-term solution.

The 28-year-old’s experience and familiarity with the Premier League are both major plus points.

And with Villa not yet out of the title race, brining in a proven striker with goals throughout Europe would be a welcome addition.
