Newcastle’s delivery into the box needs improvement

It is not a well kept secret that Newcastle struggle to impose themselves in offensive set pieces. Newcastle have not scored from a corner since we beat Wolves in October 2011. On top of this, so far this season, only one headed goal has been scored by Newcastle, discounting Demba Ba’s handball against that is.

The fact is that our delivery often lacks quality and our runs lack invention. From free-kicks Newcastle constantly look to find Mike Williamson who tries to nod it back across to a runner, however this rarely works. Cabaye’s corners lack pace and are usually just stood up to the back post. There is also no invention as well, I saw Stoke score a well worked corner where there were blockers in place allowing Jon Walters an unpressurised shot on goal. This sort of thing would definitely be good for newcastle as we have a distinct lack of real height.

Our balls from out wide are also not good enough, we play a left footer on the right and two right footers on the left, unsurprisingly this means they cut inside a lot meaning that a chance of a free header is lost due to the extra second taken getting the ball in.

What do you think would be the best solution to our lack of goals from out wide, Ben Arfa and Gutierrez to swap wings, or something more ?
