Why Nuno Espirito Santo ‘Won’t Last Long’ At West Ham After Nottingham Forest Row

Nuno Espirito Santo has already been warned that he may not last long as the new manager at West Ham.

The Portuguese manager was named new Irons boss over the weekend following the sacking of Graham Potter after weeks of threats against his job.

Nuno had been axed a few short weeks ago himself by Nottingham Forest which left fans emotional at the thought of losing the gaffer who guided them into European football.

He wasted little time in accepting his new role and moved straight into the dugout at Hill Dickinson Stadium for a 1-1 draw with David Moyes’ Everton in his first match in charge.

It was a decent start for the new boss of the club but the 51-year-old has not avoided warnings about his time at the London Stadium.

Nuno Espirito Santo West Ham future subject of warning

And it has not all been about him personally or insisting on his squad playing a certain style of football that may or may not work at his new club.

No, the warning has come from a former Hammers senior scout who claims the boardroom still have a huge say in issues both on and off the pitch which might not sit well with Nuno.

Former talent spotter, Mick Brown, has suggested that the new gaffer may struggle with the way things at run at his new club as the hierarchy often stick their noses in where they are not wanted.

“If recent history is anything to go by, Nuno won’t last long,” Brown said in discussion with outlet Football Insider.

“For Nuno, he left Wolves after disagreeing with the owners on their transfer decisions and direction, and then left Forest after another disagreement with the owner.

“[David] Sullivan and co have shown they aren’t always the easiest to work with.

“That’s not even getting started on the transfers where the chairman has intervened or made moves even if the manager has said otherwise.

“Nuno, his history with previous owners, and knowing how the board operate at West Ham, I can see it going wrong, as much as I hope it doesn’t for the manager’s sake.”

Why West Ham fans are protesting board

Nuno certainly will not want to endure another unceremonious axing at his new club but Brown’s warning surely must be heeded.

West Ham fans are already protesting their board members and chairman David Sullivan as well as Karren Brady over a plethora of different issues.

The stadium move is a large bone of contention while ticket issues for home fans have also been brought up.

The summer transfer window was unacceptable, say some punters.
