Graham Potter Faces Personal Grilling As West Ham Owner To Attend Crystal Palace Clash

Graham Potter is set to receive an in-person grilling this weekend with West Ham owner David Sullivan to watch the Crystal Palace game live.

Potter is under serious pressure at the London Stadium with just three points from their opening four matches.

Several managers have already reportedly been sounded out by the Hammers board about replacing Potter should things go wrong and Frank Lampard is one name in the hat to join.

Potter will be desperate for a positive result against the Eagles when they soar into town and the added pressure of Sullivan attending the game could heap nerves onto the head coach.

But there is also another reason Sullivan’s attendance has raised eyebrows ahead of the weekend’s matchday.

Graham Potter West Ham job under pressure

Fans are planning a protest against the hierarchy and Sullivan with Karren Brady facing demonstrations against their leadership from Irons supporters.

Hammers United, the organisers of the protests, have named it “No More BS” and plan to have around 3000 fans involved which they believe could rise to as many as 20,000 should they be able to build momentum.

According to reports in the Daily Mail, Sullivan has plans to defy the fan anger and make sure he watches the game from his usual seat as he “believes he should not be forced to stay away from watching his own club”.

He does, however, accept that fans have the right to express their opinions and he will acknowledge them as such.

The fanbase is angry that promises have not been followed through on by the board and ownership and the planned demonstrations, they hope, will eventually bring about change.

Why fans are protesting Sullivan and Brady

They will boycott the coming Brentford match and set off black balloons at their away matches.

And there are several key elements of what is going on at their club which point to exactly why they are planning these moments.

The stadium move from Upton Park is one major issue for the fans to stomach and Hammers United organiser Paul Colborne claims they have not had promises kept on the move.

Ticketing issues have also reared their head with tourists being able to snap up briefs for big games and in and around regular fans who are in their season ticket seats.

The summer transfer window was also a bone of contention with fans claiming they felt “gaslighted” by the club who issued statements suggesting they had been restricted by “concerns around profitability and sustainability rules”.

The club spent around £125million on players this summer while also bringing in two players on free transfers including Kyle Walker-Peters, Callum Wilson and Igor Julio on loan.
