Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush was seen on crutches following an injury sustained on international duty with Egypt.

Pep Guardiola is already dealing with multiple concerns during the September international break, and this latest setback could leave the Etihad side short of options heading into a critical run of fixtures.

Omar Marmoush Injury Update

Marmoush was forced off inside the first ten minutes of Egypt’s World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso.

Early optimism suggested the issue was minor, with national team staff noting he appeared in good spirits after the 0-0 draw.

However, journalist Ismael Mahmoud has since published photos showing Marmoush arriving in Cairo on crutches and wearing a splint on his knee.

Scans in Egypt will determine the severity of the problem before Manchester City’s medical staff conduct their own assessments upon his return to England.

Man City Team News vs Man Utd

The timing of Marmoush’s injury is far from ideal. Guardiola is already without summer signing Rayan Cherki, who picked up a thigh injury before the international break.

Erling Haaland is shouldering the bulk of the goalscoring responsibility, while Jeremy Doku and Savinho are still finding a bit of consistency.

Marmoush had been providing valuable versatility across the front line since joining City in January, giving Guardiola another option for rotation during a congested Premier League and Champions League schedule.

Meanwhile, John Stones was withdrawn from England duty after picking up a muscle problem, and Oscar Bobb revealed he had required scans for a thigh issue.

Defender Rico Lewis and summer signing Josko Gvardiol are also carrying knocks, adding to Guardiola’s defensive worries.

Young midfielder Nico O’Reilly has been sidelined as well, reducing rotation options in the centre of the pitch.

If the scans confirm a significant lay-off for Marmoush, City will have to lean more heavily on Phil Foden and Doku in wide areas, with Haaland continuing as the main outlet in central attack.

Haaland is fresh off scoring five goals for Norway in an emphatic 11-1 win over Moldova.

How Long Will Marmoush Be Out For?

Reports in Egypt initially suggested Marmoush’s injury was a bruised ligament that might only require a short recovery period. If that proves accurate, he could be back within weeks.

But the fact he was spotted on crutches raises concerns that the problem could be more severe.

Should that be the case, Guardiola may face the prospect of being without another key forward just as City prepare for the Manchester derby and their opening Champions League fixtures.
