Pablo Zabaleta should be picked for Argentina…

Why did he not get picked?

I am mystified as to why versatile Argentine Pablo Zabaleta, one of the Blues’ top performers this season, has not had a tap on the shoulder from the Hand of God.

He has simply been ingored after what could be described as some of the best football he has ever played. Zabaleta has played in a multitude of positions to reflect the multitude of different skills he possesses. He is a real asset to the club and I can say that I have never seen a player adapt so well to English football in his first season, bar Vincent Kompany. He’s able to adapt to a variety of positions. So sometimes ‘Sparky’ can change formation without having to make substitutions if he has a player of Pablo’s flexibility on the pitch, something I fear/hope Argentinia will regret.

What’s more, Maradona even made a whistle stop tour to the other side of town to visit and watchCarlos Tevez and also Javier Mascherano of Liverpool. However he left Zabaleta out in the cold, literally.

His performances in midfield, in arguably the most competative league in the world, have won his great praise from the fans. His work rate is phenomenal, his tackling isn’t reckless but it is controlled yet tough. Even at full back, slotting in on the left hand side for Bridge, he has shown some outstanding qualities and his superb finish against Wigan earlier this year proved what a fantastic player he can be.

Maradona is taking a lot of flak over not considering influential and goal machine midfielder Juan Riquelme as well as raising eyebrows about blanking Zabaleta.

Pablo is still a young player however and I am in some ways glad he has not been chosen. He can thus play some more fabulous football in the hardest league in the world, I just really hope, for his sake, Maradona knows what a super player he is.

His rating for the season so far >>> 9/10
