Brazil 2-1 Uruguay: Paulinho sends Brazil into the final.

A dramatic 86th minute header from Paulinho sent Brazil to the final after a tight game. Forlan missed a penalty, Fred scored right at the break (41), Cavani sparked hope for Uruguay at the start of the second half (47). Spain or Italy will be Brazil’s opponent.

With the goverment falling apart, the people going out on the street to protest. It didn’t really mattered for Luiz Felipe Scolari’s players as they continued their great mumentum from the start of the tournament picking up yet another win but this time Barcelona’s new boy Neymar wasn’t able to show something from the bag as Maxi Perrira closed him down very effectively.

Forlan’s penalty miss in the 14th minute came after his corner and David Luiz tripped Uruguay’s captain Diego Lugano but Julio Cesar guessed the right way and kept the Selecao in it.  Fred’s goal came after great through ball from Paulinho towards Neymar left him alone against Muslera but the Brazilian tried to be quick and Muslera stopped it but couldn’t stop Fred from slotting the rebound home as he took Brazil to half-time in the lead. With Uruguay knowing they have to do something in order to score and save themselves they sent a lot of players up and it paid off as Thiago Silva tried to clear the ball out of danger but Cavani took the ball from Real Madrid’s possible team-mate Marcelo and put the ball past Julio Cesar. As the last whistle and extra time came to a close, Scolari send in Bernard and Hernanes in for Oscar and Hulk and after several corner kicks attempts Neymar found Paulinho’s head and sent Brazil into the final.

Urugauy’s defensive line: Straight away from the first whistle Uruguay defended with three lines of defence (3-4-3) and closed down every creative player in the Brazil ranks as Maxi Perreira closed down Neymar and made him be stuck in the right wing for the majority of the game and Juventus’ Martin Caceres closed Zenit’s Hulk and made him stuck at the left wing without any option to shoot.

Neymar’s importance: Neymar froved to be a pivotal member of Scolari’s team scoring three amazing goals in three games but against Uruguay he wasn’t able to do nothing and just after he tried to run away from Perreira to the center Brazil were actually doing something that could change the game.

Brazil’s subtitutions: Scolari is getting a lot of criticizem about Bernard not being one of the first team player, and he proved to Scolari that the ctitics are right after coming from the bench and moving from side to side, passing balls that cut the Uruguay’s defence and he was more effective from Hulk.

Uruguay’s lack of depth: As the game reached the dying moments of the game and after Scolari already did two of three subtitutes Tabarez didn’t had anyone to send to the pitch in order to change the game, he made just one subtitution because of Gonzalez’s injury as he brought Walter Gargano on, he could send Abel Hernandez that scored four goals against Tahiti on and try to score a last-minute goal. Uruguay have a lot to prove in the World Cup next year.

Man Of The Match = Paolinho: As Uruguay did their best to cover every space of Brazil’s attacking players Paulinho did enough to stay alone to pass an amazing through ball to Neymar which eventually went in and score the goal to send the Selecao to the final and proved to be a vital role at the heart of midfield.
