Preston have struggled recently, one win in eleven is hardly promotion form. The positions the whites seem to struggle in are the forward roles, with no real goalscoring strikers.
Everybody seems to have forgotten about Jon Parkin, ‘the beast’ is struggling for form with only 5 goals this season he isn’t re-creating surprising form of last season when he managed 11 goals.
Preston’s key player has got to be Ross Wallace the scottish winger has been setting up and scoring goals as usual this season, something not many championship players can do. A superb free-kick at Blackpool has given Wallace some confidence after a dull October and is now looking for more goals.
Preston have a golden opportunity to get their season back on track against a Plymouth side who are certain relegation candidates. Confidence at Deepdale is low so don’t expect a huge crowd and a great atmosphere but all that doom and gloom can change with 3 points.
Plymouth have just replaced Paul Sturrock with his assistant Paul Mariner who has plenty of experience mainly in the American game. Mariner will be hoping he can kick start his Plymouth career with a win at Deepdale. He’ll make sure Argyle don’t make the same mistakes they’ve been making recently.
Plymouth’s key player is top scorer Jamie Mackie, with four goals to his name Mackie will be hoping to add more and secure a Plymouth win. Being top scorer for Argyle isn’t hard so really he’s going to have to rely on his midfield to make chances for him.
This game is hard to call but i’m going to say a Preston win. I just can’t see Plymouth doing anything special. It won’t be easy for Preston but they will do it. Wallace will prove to much for Plymouth and they will struggle against North End’s strikers.
Final Score prediction: Preston 1 Plymouth 0
