After taking over the position at the helm of the Portuguese national football team, which was irresistible for Queiroz, the ex-Assistant Manager of Manchester United praised his former club and said that he would remain a fan of the club forever. Queiroz’s influence brought Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson to the club, with all three having exceptional potential to excel in the future.

His departure may give the Ronaldo saga another twist, and will leave Sir Alex Ferguson lacking a right-hand-man for the moment, when we are just one month away from Premier League kickoff. All Man Utd fans understand that the opportunity to coach one’s own nation ahead of a World Cup is not an opportunity that comes knocking everyday. We all support Queiroz and wish him luck in his new career, and would love to see him manage Manchester United in the future when the great Sir Alex Ferguson steps down. Queiroz’s new contract will run for 4 years until Euro 2012, a year by which Ferguson would have, almost certainly, stepped down from football.
“I’m very proud and honoured to go back to serve my country. It is with a very heavy heart that I leave the greatest football club in the world. This has been a special period in my life both personally and professionally. To Sir Alex, I thank him for his faith in me and his knowledge, spirit and desire from which I will take strength and have confidence in my new role.” – Carlos Queiroz
“Carlos is one of the best coaches in world football. His attention to detail, ability to innovate and will to win have been a key factor to the team’s recent successes. He has played an important role in building and blending the exceptional squad of players at the club.” – Sir Alex Ferguson
