Rooney’s lack of goals doesn’t worry Fergie

Sir Alex Ferguson was full of praise for the talent of Wayne Rooney, and told him not to get too worried about his recent lack of goals. This is not the first time that the England striker has had a run of games without scoring a single goal. However, he has proven that once he eventually finds goalscoring form, he cannot stop scoring goals.

The Aston Villa game on Saturday evening will be Rooney’s sixth game in which he failed to net a goal. Although Fergie would like Rooney to find his best form again, he said that Rooney’s work is not limited to just scoring goals. As could be seen in the Liverpool game last weekend, Rooney was one of the factors that helped Man Utd to register such a memorable victory over their arch-rivals.

“He was great all day. You just had to look at his aggression, his control and his penetration. I have not one problem with the boy. I hope he plays as badly for the rest of the season. That will do for me.” – Sir Alex Ferguson about Wayne Rooney’s performance against Liverpool

With Cristiano Ronaldo in scintillating goalscoring form, netting 25 in 25 league starts, goals are not a major problem for the Red Devils. If Rooney starts scoring goals as well, Man Utd can rest assured that they will have success in the Premiership and also in Europe. Fergie believes that Rooney has the right personality to overcome this goal drought as soon as possible, and not let it affect his performances.
