Manchester United Fans Convinced Ruben Amorim Secretly Joined Twitter Space

Was Ruben Amorim really on a Manchester United Twitter Space?

Some Manchester United fans are convinced Ruben Amorim was speaking on a Twitter Space on Monday night, defending his stance at the club.

With over 60,000 people tuned in to a call titled “United Crisis Meeting”, listeners were suspecting they were hearing from none other than the Red Devils manager himself.

United’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City on Sunday has only intensified scrutiny on Amorim, who has made it clear he won’t change his tactical approach despite mounting pressure.

While the club’s hierarchy continue to back him, fans are increasingly split over whether he can turn results around.

Speculation is rife over his future, with Amorim facing sack calls but could have an instant fallback option, with Benfica circling.

Did Ruben Amorim Join A Manchester United Twitter Space?

The moment unfolded when a user going by “@4075mm” — known as “ish” — began speaking during the Space.

His voice, accent, and mannerisms sounded uncannily similar to Amorim’s, leading listeners to speculate that the Portuguese coach had joined incognito.

“Ish” even weighed in on transfers, calling Benjamin Sesko’s signing “not the smartest purchase” and suggesting he would have preferred Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.

He even defended Amorim’s decision to not give Kobbie Mainoo a starting XI spot, saying that “the idea of Mainoo is bigger than the player”, and that he needs to work on his application off the ball.

The comments echoed criticisms the manager himself has faced about United’s recruitment and team selection, and there have been arguments about whether Ruben Amorim has really made United worse after a £250 million transfer spend.

When the host of the Space, @htomufc, thanked “ish” for his insights, the mystery account delivered a line that sent fans into hysterics: “The moment I stop believing is when Amorim stops believing.”

The host laughed, exclaiming: “There’s no way you’re not him, man. This is him.” To which the account playfully replied: “No it is not. I wish I was as sexy as him.”

Fan Reactions To Amorim Twitter Space Rumours

United fans quickly flooded X with jokes and memes, treating the Space like an impromptu Amorim press conference.

One fan wrote: “This ain’t even a space, this is a press conference with Ruben Amorim.” Another added: “This is literally Ruben on a burner account. His opinion on Mainoo, bro, it’s literally what Amorim said.”

Others joked that the manager was “trying to save his job” by jumping online and defending himself directly to supporters.

It comes just a day after Paddy Power were mocking Amorim with a managerial recruitment skit involving a cameo from Alan Curbishley.

The whole Space is still available to listen to in full.

Was It Really Ruben Amorim on Twitter Space?

Despite the uncanny similarities, it is highly unlikely that Amorim himself was on the Space.

Managers of his stature rarely, if ever, drop into fan forums, especially during a period of such pressure. It would certainly be a first.

Still, the incident has added another layer of surreal humour to United’s turbulent start to the season.

After a derby defeat and growing questions about his future, even the suggestion of Amorim appearing in a Twitter Space has been enough to keep fans talking.
