Shock summer transfer, Mikel Silvestre, the 31 year old £450k signing from rivals Manchester United, has been named in the reserve squad for tonight’s game against Stoke City reserves. A muscle strain has prevented Silvestre from making any appearances since his move but now seems to have shaken it off. The versatile veteran will start tonight’s match in his usual centre back position alongside young Kyle Bartley.
Everybody was shocked when Wenger signed Silvestre and many still wonder what his role at the club will be. His presence in tonight’s young side though, I feel can only have a positive effect on the youngsters.
Also making his fist start in the famous Red and White tonight is Amaury Bischoff. The Portugal U-21 international has been recovering from groin injury since his summer switch from Werder Bremen. He will start in midfield alongside Mark Randall, Henri Lansbury, summer signing Francis Coquelin and wonder-kid Jack Wilshere.
