Spurs captain and England defender Ledley King was today bailed for ABH (Actual Bodily Harm) after allegedly punching a man in the face.
King was out partying in one of London’s fashionable clubs when he became involved in an incident with another man, leading to violence. The police arrested King at around 2.30 in the morning before bailing him. Tottenham Hotspur issued a short statement today but have no news story on the incident on the official club website (http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/latest_news.html).
A Scotland Yard spokesperson issued a statement today, saying: “A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of ABH following an allegation of assault made by a man in his 20s.”
This statement mirrored one made earlier by Charing Cross Police Station inspector Phil Clare who said: “”I can confirm, in the early hours of this morning, a man was arrested on suspicion of assault.
“He has been interviewed at this police station and as a result of what he’s told us we’ve bailed him to come back at a later date.”
This is the first time Ledley King has been involved in such an incident, and everyone at the club will no doubt be hoping that King doesn’t replicate this incident anytime soon as King remains one of Tottenham’s most important players despite suffering from a chronic knee injury.
