Spurs v Chelsea: Live Blog.

Tottenham vs Chelsea.

 

 

Chelsea host Tottenham today in what is officialy the most one sided game in premiership history. Chelsea have lost only once to Tottenham in the league in the Premiership era.

Hopefully Tottenham can change that today.

I’ve never done live blogging before, but I thought I’d give it a bit of a go. If it all goes wrong- please excuse me. If it all goes right and Tottenham win- the party’s at mine tonight!

TEAMS- CHELSEA: Cech, Bosingwa, Carvalho, Terry, Cole, Deco, Essien, Belletti, Lampard, Cole, Anelka                   Subs: Cudicini, Alex, Ferreira, Bridge, Malouda, Di Santo, Kalou

TOTTENHAM- Gomes, Gunter, Woodgate, King, Bale, Bentley, Modric, Zokora, Jenas, Giovani, Bent                        Subs: Cesar, Dawson, Assou-Ekotto, Gilberto, O’Hara, Huddlestone, Lennon

Its 1.30 and the game kicks off….

2 mins. Frank Lampard unleashes a piledriver from 25 yards or so. Luckily for the Spurs, it’s high and wide.

4 mins. Frank Lampard warned for catching Zokora. No card shown however.

6 mins. Oooooh, what a save! Frank Lampard bursted into the Spurs box and tried to catch Spurs out with a delightful chip. Gomes backpedals and tips the ball over the bar. Chelsea seem the more dangerous team.

7 mins. Good shot from Bent but it takes a deflection and goes wide.

8 mins. Spurs win another corner. We’re keeping the pressure up.

9 mins. YELLOW CARD. Deco is the first player to go in the book for a mis-timed challenge. Lots of fouls at the minute.

11 mins. Another shot from Lampard but it goes wide. He’s looking very dangerous at the minute and he’s not being picked up by Zokora in the middle.

16 mins. The games calmed a little bit. The ball seems to be stuck in mid-field.

19 mins. Bentley wastes a corner.

21 mins. Blimey, that was close! Chelsea win a corner and swing the ball in. One of our lads heads the ball backwards, Anelka pounces but his shot is blocked. We were lucky to survive that. Well done Ledley for the block.

22 mins. Wayhay! The Spurs fan’s start up with another chant of; “It’s all so quiet at the bridge!” Chelsea fans respond with one of their own chants. Not much action at the minute.

23 mins. Chelsea break but Gomes comes out to smother the ball.

25 mins. Oh my God how did we get away with that? Beletti swung the ball in and found Anelka. Anelka traps the ball and looks set to score but fires over from 10 yards.

26 mins. We’re lucky to still be at 0-0. Essien shot from around 25 yards and hit the bar. Come on Tottenham, get playing!!!

27 mins. GOAL!!! CHELSEA-1 vs. TOTTENHAM-0. BELLETTI! Bugger. Deco swung in a corner and Bent made a mayre of defending. Beletti found the ball and somehow found the net. He didn’t know anything about it! Oh well, 1-0 down. Come on Spurs fan’s altogether; “CARLING CUP! CARLING CUP!”

 31 mins. Terry nearly makes it 2-0 but he heads into the arms of Gomes. Should really be 3-0 Chelsea.

33 mins. The play stops as Gomes is hurt. He came out to collect the ball and smashed into Gunter. He should be OK, which is good as we need our first choice ‘keeper at the minute- Chelsea are all over us like a rash.

35 mins. Spurs finally get into the Chelsea half and win a corner from Gunters cross. Bentley swings the ball in but Chelsea win a free-kick because Woodgate jumped on Carvalho.

36 mins. Chelsea pass it about a bit. If Spurs lose today, we’ll be the only team on 0 points. We also have never lost all 3 of our opening games.

40 mins. Cech races out of his box and catches the ball from under Darren Bent’s nose. Bent’s had a poor first half but at least Bentley is playing well. Chelsea still look more dangerous.

43 mins. YELLOW CARD. Joe Cole joins Deco in the yellow card club for a bad tackle on Spurs skipper Ledley King. Half time drawing closer…

44 mins. Joe Cole does a bit of dancing round the penalty box but his step-overs come to nothing. Spurs still can’t mount an attack.

46 mins. GOAL!!! CHELSEA-1 vs. TOTTENHAM-1! DARREN BENT! Oh my God, where did that come from?  Modric was 30 yards out when Lampard went to tacle him. The ball ricocheted into the penalty box and Darren Bent seized the chance and smashed it home, low under Petr Cech! I wasn’t expecting that!

47 mins. HALF TIME. CHELSEA-1 vs. TOTTENHAM-1. How are we still in this? Chelsea were all over us and should have been 3-0 up within half an hour but Bent’s injury time strike got us back on level terms. Come on you Spurs!

Right well the second half is now underway. No subs to report. First half possesion was Chelsea 50%, Spurs 50% which I found quite surprising as it seems Chelsea have been all over us!

46 mins. Cole launches a throw on into the Spurs box. Spurs defend.

48 mins. Cole’s cross goes out of play. Gomes restarts with a long goal-kick. It seems he’s OK after his clash with Gunter.

50 mins. Bentley swings in another corner. Once again Woody fouls Terry, FK to Chelsea. Cech blasts it up field.

54 mins. Once again Lampard tries to chip Gomes. This time however his chip is too strong and flies over the bar. Chelsea seeing more of the ball at the minute.

56 mins. Anelka fouls David Bentley. Zokora takes the free-kick and decides to pass. Spurs would do well to hold onto the ball for a bit.

57 mins. Deco tackles Giovani. No FK given, but Giovani wasn’t happy with the tackle. He got up and ran to tackle his former team-mate but Deco passed to Cole. Get stuck in Giovani!!!

59 mins. SUB. GIOVANI OFF, LENNON ON. Theres no chance for Giovani to get his own back on Deco as he’s withdrawn for Lennon. Lennon’s likely to play on the left and inject a bit of pace into the Spurs team.

62 mins. SUB. GUNTER OFF, HUDDLESTONE ON. Another Spurs sub, an it’s an intresting one. Right back Gunter’s off for DM Tom Huddlestone. I’ll let you know where Huddlestone’s playing in a minute.

65 mins. Lampard swung in a corner and Calvalho headed over. Spurs under a bit of pressure.

66 mins. SUB. J COLE OFF, MALOUDA ON.

67 mins. Huddlestone has a good shot blocked by John Terry. The resulting corner leads to a Chelsea clearence.

68 mins. It seems that Huddlestone is now playing in midfield with Jenas at right back. The Chelsea sub was a straight swap.

72 mins. The game seems to have settled down a bit, Spurs are enjoying a bit of possesion.

74 mins. SUB. DAVID BENTLEY OFF, JAMIE O’HARA ON. A bit of a weird sub as, in my opinion, Bentleys played well. O’Hara looks to be playing on the left, with Lennon now on the right.

76 mins. O’Hara swings in a corner which is headed clear by Frank Lampard.

78 mins. SUB. BELLETTI OFF, KALOU ON. An attacking sub from Chelsea with a defender being withdrawn for a forward. Kalou can be dangerous and has a bit of a reputation for scoring injury time goals.

79 mins. Lampard takes a Chelsea FK. He delivers a cross but it is caught by Spurs ‘keeper Heurelho Gomes.

80 mins. Spurs escape yet again. Kalou should have just netted the winner. Chelsea went route one and Anelka headed the ball down to Kalou; he’s in a good position but shoots wide. <Phew!>

85 mins. Spurs holding on but Chelsea are surging forward. Darren Bent gives away a needless FK but it comes to nothing.

87 mins. YELLOW CARD. BOSINGWA. Bosingwa is the third Chelsea player to go into the book. He’s carded for unsporting behaivour after fouling Gareth Bale.

88 mins. Bale curls a FK into the Chelsea wall. Chelsea are surging forward but Spurs have their noses in the air, trying to sniff out a counter attack.

89 mins. SUB. ANELKA OFF, DI SANTO ON. A straight sub for Chelsea as Anelka is taken off. He’s not had the best of games.

92 mins. Huddlestone fouls Terry. Terry takes the FK quickly as Chelsea look for their second.

93 mins. Essien has a shot from 25 yards out. Luckily for the Spurs it’s gone wide.

94 mins. Ashley Cole’s cross is headed clear by Zokora.

FULL TIME! CHELSEA-1 vs. TOTTENHAM-1. We’ve done it! How did we get away with that? Chelsea should really have won it but we stuck in there! A full match report will come soon, either from Juandeful or myself, tomorrow.
