The International Break for Manchester City

Ah, the International Break. The most boring period of the season. Or is it? Of course, it is still a busy time for the players, but for the fans as well. We do get to watch football, it’s just not the Premier League. International football is very interesting, because the teams are competing for a spot in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, so there IS a point to the break.

Also, international team mates have a strong bond because they come from the same country and speak the same language, so I feel that the understanding within the team is remarkable. I personally like to watch Spain play, because their style of play is much like City’s. In terms of momentum, I will agree that the pace of the player’s training and lives slows down, but it picks back up very quickly when the energy of the Premier League returns, without a problem.

In addition, so many Manchester City players have international team mates who play for City as well: the case of Spain (Silva, Navas, Negredo), France (Clichy, Nasri), England (Richards, Hart, Lescott, Milner), and Argentina (Zabaleta and Aguero) to name a few.

This down-time is where us fans can speculate about matches to come, comment on matches past, and brush up on our Fantasy BPL teams.

Not to mention, this break is essential for our skipper Vincent Kompany, who currently has a thigh strain. During this time, Kompany can receive treatment and hopefully be back to training before we go to play West Ham.

So relax, be stress-free, and watch some international football. Ciao, Adios, Au Revoir, Goodbye for now, Citizens!
