Representitives from Tottenham Hotspur were in Argentina to watch Colubian international, Radamel Falcao, as he scored for his club, River Plate. The 22-year-old has scored 30 goals in 75 appearences for his club side, and has won 12 caps for the Columbian national side making him eligable for a work permit.

Spurs officals reportedly discussed a transfer fee, which could be around £7 million, whilst they were in South America. Arsenal and Manchester United have both been linked with the striker this summer, but the latter seem to be close to landing Tottenham’s Dimitar Berbatov. Juande Ramos is currently in the market for one or two new strikers, and at £7 million; there would be plenty of cash left for a Berbatov replacement, as Falcao is more of a deep-lying striker and seen as a replacement for Robbie Keane. Ramos is eager to get the Berbatov saga over and done with, and said:
“We need to get this matter resolved before the transfer deadline, if Berbatov goes, we will need time to sign a replacement. We want to have the best centre forward we can possibly get.”
