Weekly Tottenham Transfer Gossip Round-up

Yet more gossip has been floating around White Hart Lane these last few days. I’ll list the best of it here…

SPURS MOVE FOR SANTA CRUZ (THE DAILY MAIL) Manchester City have long been linked with the forward and had a £12mil bid rejected earlier in the month. Tottenham are hoping to gatecrash a second City bid by offering Blackburn £15mil.

POSSIBILITY-7/10. Spurs do need another striker and Santa Cruz does have Premiership experience. Spurs could easily finance the move if Berbatov was sold but would the Blackburn forward prefer a move to City where he would be able to link up with his former manager, Mark Hughes?

KANOUTE TO REJOIN TOTTENHAM (DAILY MAIL) Tottenham are ready to bid up to £12mil for the Mali striker. Kanoute likes the idea of re-joining Tottenham, because he would be able to link up with former manager and mentor Juande Ramos.

POSSIBILITY-5/10. Would Ramos really pay £12mil for a 30 year old? Kanoute has admitted he’d love to return to the lane but I think Levy would only want to bid around £6mil for him. Sevilla have said that he’s one of their best players and would therefore warrant a large transfer fee.

LENNON ATTRACTING INTREST (THE PEOPLE/NEWS OF THE WORLD) Aaron Lennon is apparantly attracting the intrest of a number of mid-table Premier league clubs. The winger reportedly favours Newcastle United.

POSSIBILITY-7/10. Despite the fact he said he wants to stay, I don’t think Ramos would turn down a bid in the reigon of £10mil for him. New signing David Bentley looks to have taken his position and the young winger had a poor end to the season for Spurs. Everton, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Blackburn, Portsmouth and even Liverpool are all reportedly keeping tabs on him.

OWEN TO JOIN THE SPURS. (THE EXPRESS) Ramos has lined up Newcastle’s Michael Owen as a replacement for Dimitar Berbatov, who is expected to leave before the transfer window closes.

POSSIBILITY-6.5/10. I’m pretty sure Berbatov will leave and Ramos is looking for replacements already. Owen might move to the Lane, but I doubt we could offer him higher wages then what he get’s from the Toon.

SPURS READY TO SMASH BRITISH TRANSFER RECORD (THE SUN) Spurs are apparantly getting ready to bid £32mil for spanish and Valencian starlet David Villa.

POSSIBILITY-4/10. I very much doubt Levy would spend £32mil on one player. We’ve already spent a lot of money on Modric, Gomes, Bentley etc. and even the proposed £28mil sale of Berbatov wouldn’t cover Villa’s transfer fee. I’d love to see Villa in spurs colours, but I’m afraid I think it’s nothing more than wishful thinking.

Well there’s another week’s gossip out the way. I’ve decided not to include any more Berbatov gossip; I’m sure you know most of it anyway. I’ll post more next week:)
