What Team will Ramos Play?

Following the 2-1 defeat against ‘Boro, Tottenham manager Juande Ramos has to decide whether to stick with the team, and the formation, he played on Saturday or whether to scrap the formation and play a new team. I’ll take a look at some of the options he could play.

FORMATION: 4-4-2.

OPTION 1. ( The same team that started against ‘Boro. )

Gomes

Assou-Ekotto, Dawson, Woodgate, Zokora

Lennon, Modric, Jenas, Bentley

Dos Santos, Bent

Personally, I thought that the team that started on Saturday was quite a poor option. Why were King and Bale left on the bench? Their replacements, Dawson and Assou-Ekotto were two of the worst players on the pitch. Both of the players seemed fit, so why were they left out? Zokora started at right back because Hutton was injured, however Hutton could be fit for the game against Sunderland.

Lennon played on the left with Bentley on the right and Dos Santos played behind Bent. I would have played Dos Santos on the left and left Lennon out, then I would have played Berbatov upfront with Bent. Sure, Berbatov’s a sulky git but he’s still a spurs player. We might as well play him into the ground until we get a replacement. On this point, I’ve arrived nicely at option 2.

OPTION 2. ( The team that played in most of our pre-season warm up’s.)

Gomes

Bale, King, Woodgate, Hutton ( or Zokora if Hutt’s still injured. )

Dos Santos, Modric, Jenas, Bentley

Berbatov, Bent

This team is much stronger then option 1’s team. The defence is very strong ( and we all know how Ramos likes his clean sheets! ) and the midfield is very positive. Berba starts up-front with Bent, who desperately needs a fellow striker playing alongside him. If Ramos is determined to leave Berba out, I would play youngster Tomas Pekhart ( one of my 7 young Spurs to watch ) instead of Lennon- keep Dos Santos on the left.

FORMATION. 4-5-1 ( christmas tree )

OPTION 3. ( To be used if <god forbid> Berba leaves and we don’t have time to sign a replacement.

Gomes

Bale, King, Woodgate, Hutton

Zokora ( as a defensive midfielder ), Modric, Huddlestone ( playing in the middle ), Bentley, Dos Santos ( as winger’s )

Bent

This is still a strong team, but goals could be a problem. Bent isn’t prolific, however he’s alright in the air- that’s good because Dos Santos and Bentley’s job would involve swinging in a lot of crosses. Pekhart could be used as an alternative to Bent. He’s taller but he’s very young- he could tire out quickly. This is a good team- but it’s ownly really going to be used at the weekend if Berba leaves before Saturday ( unlikely- I think he’ll go on deadline day ).

So there you have it- 3 team’s that could be played on Saturday. I’d go for option 2. But what will Ramos go for ( that is indeed, if he doesn’t play something completely new )?
