Diego Forlan’s agent has assured the Atletico Madrid management that their striker is staying with the club.
The news comes just hours after Roman Pavlyuchenko announced he would be staying in Russia for fear of disrupting his young family.
The news will comes as a blow for Tottenham, as they desperately seek a replacemant for the Manchester United bound Dimitar Berbatov. Roque Santa Cruz is now the bookie’s favourite to join Tottenham before the transfer window closes.
Diego Forlan’s agent, Daniel Bolotnicoff, recentley released the following statement; “Forlan is very happy at Atletico.”
“I don’t know anything about Tottenham’s supposed interest and him leaving would be very difficult.”
Juande Ramos apparantly became a fan of Forlan whilst manager of Seville. Forlan has performed well for both Villarreal and Atletico Madrid, top-scoring for both clubs. However he was regarded as a flop when he played for Manchester United, scoring just 17 goals in 95 games for the Red Devils. However he became a fan’s favourite when he scored a brace at Anfield against bitter rivals Liverpool, in 2002.
