Who Is The Best Midfielder In The Premiership

With the high class of midfielders in the premiership today, there are many high profile names who claim to be the best and we’ve just listed a few of them. From Valencia to Fabregas we’ve covered them all but who is the best you decide once you’ve read this article.

Antonio Valencia

Our first high class midfielder is Sir Alex Ferguson’s summer signing Antonio Valencia. After several successful seasons at the DW stadium, united manager for twenty three years Ferguson snapped up the 24 year old for a price tag of eighteen million. At his short time at the theatre of dreams, Valencia has already set up some excellent goals and hit the back of the net three times for the English champions.

Paul Scholes

Our second marvellous midfielder is 35 year old Manchester United player Paul Scholes. Scholes, who has played four hundred and eighty nine times games for club and country, has played for the reds for nineteen years. Having appeared four hundred and twenty three times for Ferguson, the retired England international has racked up ninety eight goals his side. During his time at the red devils, Scholes has been renowned for his excellent skill and shot accuracy as you can see (below).

Steven Gerrard

Having seventy four goals to his name no midfielder list can be with Steven George Gerrard. Gerrard, whos professional carrier started at the age of seventeen, trained with Liverpool’s youth academy. In the year of 1998 Steven Gerrard signed for the reds and has since appeared three hundred and forty one times for the side and scoring seventy four times for the club. After only four caps for the under 21s, Kevin Keegan (England manager at the time) Called the Liverpool midfielder at the young age of twenty up to his first team.

Cesc Fabregas

When Cesc Fabregas arrived at the emirates, he was an unknown sixteen year old but he soon settled in and has gone on to make two hundred and nineteen appearances for the gunners. After only two appearances for the gunners, Fabregas was called up to the Spanish under sixteen squad just before the 2003 under sixteen world cup where he finished top scorer by scoring five goals. After only one hundred and ninety eight appearances, Fabregas was awarded captaincy of the gunners.

Ryan Giggs

With his 20th Premier league campaign under way, Ryan Giggs is one of the all time premier league greats with five hundred and seventy league appearances. The Welsh international even at 36 still proves his skills by regularly getting onto the score sheet to this day. Giggs, who has appeared six hundred and thirty five times for club and country, received the PFC player of the year for his dedication to the side.

Frank Lampard

With two hundred and ninety five appearances to his name, Frank Lampard is fifth in the all time appearances table. During his time at the bridge, Lampard has scored one hundred and thirty six goals from the blues. After several successful seasons at West Ham, Lampard earned his first cap for England in 1999 against Belgium. Ten years after his debut, Lampard earned his seventy sixth cap against Belarus at Wembley on 14th October.
