Arshavin says Arsenal offer not good enough

Russian superstar Andrei Arshavin is in agreement with his club Zenit St Petersburg regarding their valuation of him, claiming £12m is not enough to secure his services.

Sport Weekend asked Arshavin questions surrounding his future and Arsenal in particular, to which the 27-year-old replied:

“I have nothing to say about this.

“Now? (There is) nothing specific about my future. I just go (for the match against) Khimki. If nothing changes, I will go to Vladivostok.

“I agree that €15 million (£12 million) was too little, and in this respect understand the leadership of the club.”

A big talent he is without doubt. However he is an unproven talent in English football and coming into the premiership at 27 to a club that needs silverware this season would be a huge step up from the Russian League.

He was outstanding in the first two games at Euro 2008 but faded away in the game against Spain when the midfield pressure was high.

Arshavin would be a bit of a risk at more than 12 million pounds but it is a risk Arsenal should take.
