Ross Jenkins has been nominated for the Championship Manager Young Apprentice of the Year category for the 2009 Football League awards.
18 year old Jenkins made his first team debut in August against Bristol Rovers and has continued a good run of form in the side which has seen him earn 21 appearances to date. He signed a professional contract during October 2008 which saw him commit to the club until 2010.
Jenkins is in the running along with two other players in the second year of their apprenticeship. Crystal Palace’s Sean Scanell is in the running, whilst Southampton’s Oscar Gobern also received a nomination.
The nominees were judged on their playing record, educational attainment, disciplinary record and any other outstanding achievements.
Judges of the shortlist included representatives from The Football League, Championship Manager, The PFA and League Football and Education. John Motson and Steve Claridge made up the expert panel.
The winner will be announced on Sunday 29th March 2009 at Grosvenor House, the venue for The Football League Awards ceremony.
