Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard could be fit in time to face Liverpool this weekend despite picking up a shoulder injury against Leeds United.
The midfielder was forced off during the first half of Arsenal’s 5-0 win at the Emirates on Saturday, sparking fears he could miss a crucial clash at Anfield.
However, hopes of a swift return have been raised after Odegaard was still named in Norway’s squad for their upcoming fixtures against Finland and Moldova.
Odegaard Injury Latest
Norway head coach Stale Solbakken suggested the 26-year-old’s issue may not be as serious as first feared. “The first few days with that injury are primarily rest,” Solbakken explained.
“It is the kind of injury that hurts a lot right now. It’s in Arsenal’s hands, and then there is a game on Sunday. So we can’t do anything from here.”
His comments provide optimism for Arsenal fans asking: is Odegaard fit for Liverpool? The signs suggest the midfielder could recover in time, though Arsenal will continue to assess him in the build-up to Sunday’s showdown.
Arsenal Injury News
Bukayo Saka also suffered a knock in the same game against Leeds.
The winger’s thigh problem means he is set to miss England duty in the upcoming international break, but the injury is not considered long term. Arsenal expect him to return within a few weeks.
Meanwhile, Porto are closing in on a deal to sign Jakub Kiwior. The Polish defender is set to join on loan with an obligation to buy for around £22m next summer, just over a year after his £20m arrival from Spezia.
Arsenal are already on the hunt for a replacement, and they have sounded out Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie as their top target.
