With the January transfer window fast approaching, Bundesliga clubs are beginning to assess potential reinforcements — and Eintracht Frankfurt are among those expected to be active.
Alongside two young players linked with a move to Frankfurt — including one regarded as a potential wonderkid — a Southampton striker is also attracting interest from Germany’s top flight.
Below are three transfer rumours currently doing the rounds.
Jeremy Arevalo from Racing Santander to Eintracht Frankfurt
One of the potential January incomings at Eintracht Frankfurt could be highly rated 20-year-old striker Jeremy Arévalo.
Currently plying his trade in La Liga 2 with Racing Santander, the Ecuadorian has scored eight goals in 18 appearances so far this season.
That form has helped Racing climb to the top of the Spanish second division, three points clear of their nearest challengers, Las Palmas.
A January move may prove difficult, however. Racing are currently benefitting from Arevalo’s partnership with Asier Villalibre, who is on loan from Alaves and is the division’s leading scorer with 10 goals.
With Alavés once again involved in a relegation battle in La Liga, Racing may struggle to secure Villalibre permanently. If that partnership is broken up, Frankfurt could see an opportunity — but it would likely require a significant fee to prise Arevalo away from El Sardinero.
Frankfurt are also weighing up their midfield options, with last week’s Bundesliga transfer talk linking Hugo Larsson with Brighton.
Leon Jakirovic from Dinamo Zagreb to Eintracht Frankfurt
Another young name on Frankfurt’s radar is 17-year-old centre-back Leon Jakirovic, currently on the books at Dinamo Zagreb.
The teenager is already being described in some circles as a potential wonderkid — a term typically reserved for players believed to have the ceiling to develop into elite-level performers in their position.
Jakirovic is yet to make a senior appearance for his club this season, but his performances in the 2025/26 Premier League International Cup at under-21 level have not gone unnoticed.
Appearances against Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Newcastle United have helped place the highly rated defender firmly on Frankfurt’s scouting shortlist.
Frankfurt currently sit seventh in the Bundesliga and already boast a solid defensive core in Nnamdi Collins, Robin Koch and Aurèle Amenda.
Even so, Jakirovic is viewed as a long-term prospect rather than an immediate solution — a potential investment in the club’s defensive future rather than a short-term fix.
Damion Downs from Southampton to Hamburg
Elsewhere, Southampton striker Damion Downs is attracting interest from Germany, with Hamburg among the clubs monitoring his situation.
Southampton paid close to £7 million to sign Downs from Köln in the summer, but the striker has yet to score in 11 Championship appearances.
Despite that, Downs’ previous record in Bundesliga 2 — where he registered 15 attacking returns (10 goals, five assists) last season — has kept him on the radar in his home country.
Hamburg have struggled for goals this season, scoring just 16 times in 15 Bundesliga matches and sitting only five points above the relegation play-off spot.
A loan move or a deal close to Southampton’s original outlay could therefore be explored in January, should Hamburg decide to strengthen their forward line.
