Aston Villa Table €60 Million Bid for In-Form LaLiga Star

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery transfer news

Premier League side Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona forward Ferran Torres.

Unai Emery’s side have tabled a sizable €60 million offer for the former Manchester City striker. The Blaugrana see it as an important offer, one that could shape their planning for the 2026/27 season.

Aston Villa Eye Move for Barcelona Striker Ferran Torres

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes.net, Aston Villa are eager to strengthen their attack this summer, and have identified Ferran Torres as a transfer target.

Villa reportedly have complete confidence in the player and believe he could assume a leadership role at the club. They admire his versatility, passing range, and clinical finishing.

The Villans think Torres fits perfectly into their project, as the 25-year-old is reaching the peak of his ability and has enough top-level experience.

This is why they are prepared to make a massive financial commitment to bring him to Birmingham.

Before leaving for Barcelona, Torres played 28 league games for City (September 2020–December 2021), scoring nine goals.

In the UEFA Champions League, he scored four goals in seven appearances for the Cityzens.

Torres is not the only forward linked with Villa in recent weeks. Aston Villa have registered their interest in Brennan Johnson, with a potential January transfer being discussed.

Barcelona Are Thoroughly Examining Aston Villa’s Offer

With Robert Lewandowski in the final year of his contract, Ferran Torres has enjoyed more prominence at Barcelona this season. He has played 18 of 19 LaLiga matches, scoring a club-leading 11 times.

However, he is still not the undisputed first choice under Hansi Flick. Torres started on the bench as Barcelona beat Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday night. Lewandowski got the nod ahead of the Spaniard and scored a decisive goal.

It is believed that Torres could finally get the continuity he is looking for at Aston Villa.

Barcelona highly value Torres’ versatility and commitment, but they are not in a position to reject Villa’s €60 million bid right away.

Accepting this proposal would allow the Blaugrana to improve their economic situation and bolster other, more crucial positions. With a lighter wage bill, they could compete for high-profile players who would become available this summer.

Barcelona have been advised to sign Leon Goretzka, while Omar Marmoush and Nico Schlotterbeck have also been mentioned.

The club hierarchy is analysing whether the compensation is sufficient to offset the loss of such a versatile, albeit not crucial, forward.
